Adolescence, a time of transformation and discovery. Not just in terms of physical changes, but also mentally and emotionally. It is during these crucial years that the brain experiences significant development, shaping our behaviors and decision-making processes.

This is particularly important to note when discussing issues of substance abuse and addiction. Studies have shown that adolescents are more vulnerable to addiction compared to adults, due to the ongoing changes in their developing brains.

By understanding the underlying neurobiological process, we can better equip ourselves with knowledge to create more effective prevention and treatment strategies for our youth.

As parents, it is vital for us to stay informed and educated about this critical stage of our children’s lives, so that we can guide them towards a healthy and positive future.
