Unveiling Toxic Femininity

We have spoken at length about the topic of Toxic Masculinity. But, is there another side? Not the opposite “non-toxic masculinity,” I am taking about potential toxicity of the other major gender — femininity.
Turns out that Toxic Femininity does exist. It is rarely if ever referenced, but it has some significant negative effects in our society. While less discussed, toxic femininity encapsulates harmful behaviors and attitudes associated with traditional female gender roles, shedding light on the complex dynamics that influence societal norms and expectations.
Toxic femininity encompasses a range of behaviors and attitudes that can be damaging to individuals and society. These may include traits such as passivity, emotional manipulation, perfectionism, and the prioritization of appearance and social status over personal well-being. While these behaviors are not inherently feminine, they are often associated with societal expectations placed on women, perpetuating harmful stereotypes, and limiting individual agency.
